Sunday, November 12, 2017, 1:00AM - 5:00PM
1064 Wisconsin Avenue, Georgetown,
Maryland, Capital Area (DC),
We'll take an approximately 5-mile afternoon walk through the past, present, and maybe future of Georgetown. We'll visit historic buildings and sites, and recall events that shaped ye olde tony towne. An optional, multi-course dinner (yum) at a moderately priced restaurant will cap the day and replenish calories. (Reservations are required for the 5 pm dinner; see separate calendar entry.) The hike's many highlights include the C&O Canal, Francis Scott Key Park, Georgetown University, Dumbarton Oaks gardens and museum, Tudor Place, the Old Stone House, as well as many noteworthy homes and landmarks, including the Exorcist steps, which should make your head spin. (Last year's photo album: http://bit.ly/HistoricGeorgetown2015.) What To Bring: Bring snacks and a bottle of water. Wear comfortable shoes. If there is a chance of rain, bring an umbrella or raincoat. When & Where: We'll meet at 1 pm on the west side of Wisconsin Avenue, NW, south of M Street. There is a small plaza in front of the Pinstripes Bistro (1064 Wisconsin Avenue; http://goo.gl/1GeirH) that is next to and above the C&O Canal. Note that street parking is conveniently free on Sundays.
