Overview

This 10-day adventure begins with four days of backpacking through the spectacular White Mountains, traveling three to six miles each day over rugged terrain, camping each night in a tent, and as a group, collectively carrying everything needed to be comfortable and safe in the backcountry. Following the backpacking section, spend three days rock climbing up famous rock faces which could include Cathedral Ledge, White Horse Ledge, or Square Ledge. Certified rock climbing guides will instruct the group in rock climbing techniques, belaying, and safety practices. Weather permitting, the third day will include a multipitch climb, allowing you to get higher off the ground and enjoy beautiful views and a feeling of exciting exposure. For Ages: 14-16 General Itinerary: Day1: After an introductory meeting with instructors, group and parents, gear is checked and issued.. After Lunch the group heads to the trailhead and begins their hike to the first campsite where they learn about camp set up, cooking on a camp stove, and sleeping comfortably in the backcountry. Day 2-6: The group works together to break down camp. Goes over their route for the day, and hit the trail for their next camp site stopping for lunch and breaks along the trail. The group continues refining their outdoor skills, and developing friendships and enjoying the scenic views along the way. After arriving in camp, the group may play a game, or participate in team initiatives, or have some down time to reflect on their experience in the outdoors. Day 7: The group will begin the rock climbing phase of their trip. They will meet with their guides in the morning to be issued climbing gear. They will travel to a nearby cliff side where they will begin learning the skills needed to rock climb safely and to challenge themselves on the rock face. Day 8-9: The group will be base camping at a forest service campground during their climbing section. Each morning they will meet their guides and set out for a different cliff. They will learn to rappel, and on their third climbing day, have an opportunity to try a multi-pitch climb. Day 10: The group is transported back to Pinkham Notch. They will have lunch, de-issue borrowed equipment and debrief their trip before being picked up in the afternoon.
