Burke Lake Park,
Join us for a fun pre-holiday hike on the Burke Lake Trail, a flat 4.7 mile loop trail located near Springfield, Virginia. Trail runs around beautiful 218 acre Burke Lake with numerous vistas and opportunities to see waterfowl. Good for all skill levels. This is a mixed use trail for walkers, hikers, runners and bicyclists and surface runs from concrete to gravel to dirt and is well maintained. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Bring water and snacks and comfortable footwear. Bring raingear if chance of rain, and warm clothes if cold is forecast. From Route 123 North The park entrance is on the right. If you see the golf course then you have gone too far. The golf course entrance will be the next right beyond the park entrance. From Route 123 South The golf course entrance is the first left off Ox Road (Route 123). The park entrance is the second left off Ox Road (Route 123). Upon entering park proceed straight ahead through entrance station down to marina parking lot where we will meet at 10:00 AM. Look for AMC Potomac sign. We'll wait 10 minutes for late arrivals, and then depart. There is no vehicle fee in December. Hike will go unless hazardous conditions exist such as ice. Notification of cancellation will be posted 6:00 AM on December 10.
