Mount Monroe, NH,
New Hampshire, White Mountains,
Registration is required for this activity.
Come along for a winter ascent of two southern Presidentials, Monroe (5,372 ft) and Eisenhower (4,760 ft), and an 11.8 mile, 3,554 foot elevation gain day (final route will be determined by weather and trail conditions). Joined by a spectacular (in good weather) but exposed above-treeline ridgeline, these peaks are suited to experienced winter hikers. Participants should have previous above-treeline experience, and come prepared with full above-treeline gear, including rigid double plastic or hybrid mountaineering boots, crampons, and ice axe. If it's not an above-treeline-on-the-Presis day, we will reroute this trip to alternate peaks.
Kellie is a 4-season leader with a preference for the winter season! She extensive experience in the Whites and Adirondacks, and is picking away at her 48's and 46'r lists, but seems to spend too much time repeating the "fun" ones! She also participates in H/B Leadership Training and enjoys teaching others about the joys of hiking and sleeping outside, especially in the snow! Her 2017 adventures include summiting on Mount Rainier and finishing her NH 48 on Owl's Head!
