Vermont, Green Mountains,
Registration is required for this activity.
Please contact leader.
Huntington Valley is in the center of ski country in Vermont. Spend a weekend with us exploring this region on skis.
Our base camp will be a Yurt at the Maple wind farms. It has with a wood stove and kitchen. Participants will be responsible for their own meals. Bring something to share. Whether you eat in or out, you will undoubtedly find a friend in our group to accompany you.
Our strategy is to chase the good snow. If it is to be found on back-country trails--our preference--that's where we'll want to be skiing. Possibilities include Camel's Hump Challenge Trail that circumnavigates Camel's Hump.; A 15-mile section of North America's longest back-country ski trail, the Catamount Trail, among several options.
If the back-country snow isn't so good, we'll consider skiing at cross-country touring centers such as the Bolton Valley XC or the Camels Hump Nordic center or Blueberry Lake XC
Our ski days will be planned based on the abilities and equipment of the participants. Skiers interested in tips to improve their Nordic skiing should know that the leader of this trip is Ted Stever, the director of the PSIA-accredited Cardigan Mountain Ski School, who has been teaching Nordic and Alpine skiing for many years. He's always happy to help.
Arriving Friday evening skiing Saturday and Sunday will allow full enjoyment of this part of the Green Mountains
Cost for this weekend is $70.00 per person, which covers the cost of lodging. It does not include costs for meals or fees for skiing at cross-country resorts. A full payment of is required upon registration, which is fully refundable if you cancel by January 4th. Cancellations after January 4th will not receive a refund unless a new participant signs up to replace the cancelling participant.
