Registration is not required for this activity. However, you may wish to contact the leader(s) if you have any questions.
Maintainer needed to work with long-established maintainer on Siwanoy Trail, Pelham Bay Park, near Coop City. No need to buy tools--existing maintainer has a full set. No car needed either: this area of Pelham is on the Beeline bus #45.
The trail is a total of 3 miles in length, in three spokes. The main spoke is reached from the Bartow Pell Mansion and runs through the grounds east of Shore Road in the vicinity of the mansion. A second, shorter spoke runs from the mansion to and across Shore Road parallel to the bridle path to the bike path by the railroad tracks. The third spoke runs through the woods between Orchard Beach Road and City Island Road to the beach, with a tail crossing Orchard Beach road to connect with the Bartow Pell branch. All of the areas are sunny, so more work is needed than in the typical upstate forest. The good part is the areas blooms with lovely little flowers very early in the spring and City Island is nearby for post workday libation. Contact Hope, trails@AMC-NY.org, if interested.
