Overview

Celebrate the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend by joining us for a fun winter outing in Topsham at the Cathance River Preserve. We will lead the group on a snowshoe or hike (based on conditions) on the trails at the Preserve. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area. The trails will lead us down to the river where the ice formations can be magical in the winter. We will follow along the river and do as many trail sections as the group is up to. We will then loop back to the parking area. Watch for animal tracks along the way and enjoy this beautiful woods walk. Trails are narrow with some short steeper sections. Snowshoes required if enough snow. Microspikes or similar traction may be required if icy. Plan on about 2-3 hours out. You'll have a chance to learn a bit about the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust and the history of this wonderful Preserve. It's also home to the Cathance River Education Alliance. So join us in this wonderful winter wonderland. Lunch out after for those interested. To register: Please email info on level of experience, gear and a phone contact.

An avid outdoors person, Michelle has been leading hiking, paddling, cross country skiing and overnight outings for several years now. Michelle lives in Topsham but enjoys spending a lot of time in mid Maine at their cabin in Elliottsville (near AMC's MWI lands). Michelle and her husband, Stan have been maintainers on the AT and have helped on AMC trails. They urge everyone to give back with trail work.
