Throughout your travels, AMC Guides will help you identify wildflowers and birdsongs and offer insight on the wildlife that calls these mountains their home. This program is designed for active adults that are interested in hiking moderately challenging terrain with a group while learning about the natural and cultural history of the surrounding mountains. Day 3 After a hearty breakfast we'll take a short drive to the 19 mile brook trail and start our hike up to Carter Notch Hut. The trail follows 19 Mile Brook for a majority of the hike until entering the boreal forest. We'll take our time on this moderate climb and have lunch on the trail. As we approach the hut we hike down to the Carter Ponds where the chance to see a moose is always a highlight. Once at the hut we'll have time to explore the area before dinner.
