Family Walk on the Bay Circuit Trail (BCT) from Bedford Town Common to Great Meadows NWR, with optional exploration at the wildlife refuge trails and observation platforms. We will walk approximately 5 miles on flat land.
"The Bay Circuit trail - sometimes named "Bay Secret" trail - is a brilliant idea conceived in 1929 as an 'outer emerald necklace' connecting green gems surrounding Boston. Today it is a 230 mile thru-hike!"
This hike is part of the AMC Family Beginner Hiking Program (BHP). We will meet at Town Common is by the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church at 75 Great Road. The Great Road is also known as MA Routes 4, 62, and 225. Free municipal parking lots available at town center complex on nearby Mudge Way
Jeanne has led trips for 45+ years for summer camps, college outings, Sierra Club, and AMC. Currently Jeanne heads up AMC Boston Family Outings and loves getting families and kids outdoors. Jeanne also leads for AMC Adventure Travel, having led to Switzerland and Peru/Machu Picchu.
Don, lifelong outdoor explorer and long term AMC member, has hiked and backpacked in North America and Europe. Don actively hikes, camps, snowshoes, and x-country skis throughout New England as well as kayaks flatwater and its seacoast. As a natural resource manager and educator Don enjoys nature study and exploring new natural landscapes.
