Join AMC SEM Chapter Open House event with the Friends of Myles Standish at Myles Standish State Forest in Carver for an Intermediate hike.
All events will begin from the Headquarters on Cranberry Rd where there is plenty of free parking. A FREE LUNCH will be available for all Open House participants starting at noon!
Once we assemble (at about 1:15pm), we will carpool to the hike start. The Pine Barrens Path runs north and south for almost the entire length of the state forest. We will do only a section of it in the two hours allotted for this hike. Bring water and snacks. The trail is moderately hilly but is not difficult. It goes through one of the prettiest parts of the park, well away from the camping areas.

Myles Standish SF Trail Map
From the Carver side(Routes 58 and 495), people come into the park via Cranberry Road. Follow the signs taking Route 58 north from Route 495 Exit 2 (Carver) for 2.3 miles. Route 58 turns left but you continue straight on Federal Furnace Road /Tremont Road and then turn right onto Cranberry Road after another 3/4 mile. Follow Cranberry Road for 2 miles to the forest headquarters.
From the Plymouth side (coming from Boston or the Cape on Route 3), the headquarters are a six mile drive from the park's East Entrance off Long Pond Road in Plymouth. If you are coming from the north, get off Route 3 at Exit 5. Turn right and follow Long Pond Road for 4.4 miles south to the park entrance. If you are driving from the Cape or from the south, get off at exit 3, turn left left on Clark Road for 0.3 miles and then right on Long Pond Road for three miles north to the park entrance. Follow Alden into the park for a mile. Bear right on Lower College Pond Road and follow past College Pond and a string of very pretty ponds.
