Overview

Natural beauty, history, and culture surround us on the Camí de Ronda, a coastal path that keeps us next to the deep blue Mediterranean as we hike the sunny shore. We will explore the beautiful city of Barcelona before journeying on an adventurous eight-day village-to-village trek that ends in Figueras, home to the Salvador Dalí Museum. We carry only what is needed for the day, as our luggage will be forwarded each day to the next lovely thee-star hotel. Oh, this camino is no solemn pilgrimage with rugged hostels, but a posh jaunt through one of the classiest as well as quaint seaside and pastoral areas you will ever encounter. Barcelona is bustling Catalonian capital and one of the world's top tourist destinations. It is home to the Sagrada Família church, the amazing architectural magnum opus of Antoni Gaudí, which is still being constructed after a century in the works. We'll walk through the gothic quarter to marvel at the city's historic architecture and sample some delectable cuisine. After a day in the city, we'll head for the shore to begin our adventure. The lovely resort city of Palamós will be our starting point. From here each day we'll begin walking the Cami de Ronda up the coast in the direction of France. Each day will bring us to new wonders, natural, historical, and cultural. We'll never be far from civilization, but the nature and pastoral settings will often belie that fact. Each day will bring us to a new village for an evening of comfy rest with excellent food. We'll end up in the land of Dalí to wonder at the artist's often bizarre creations. After a stop in the historic city of Girona, we'll then be transported back to Barcelona to be on our way to the next adventure. We will stay in three-star or better hotels. We will dine out for dinner each night and sample the delicious local cuisine. In this area, dinner is usually in the form of tapas, a variety small plates for the evening meal.
