Overview

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the rugged beauty of the Southern Presidential Peaks of the White Mountains. This Women's+ Hut to Hut hiking adventure provides an opportunity for not only a physical trek through stunning landscapes, but also an enriching experience led by knowledgeable AMC Guides, connecting you with the natural world and community of like-minded adventurers. Our journey will begin at AMC's Highland Center, a cozy and welcoming base where the group will meet for the first time. This initial meeting is a chance to connect as a group and the guides will review the plan for the weekend, expectations, safety protocol, gear, weather conditions, etc. and will be a chance to make sure everyone is feeling confident and prepared about the trip to come. For those needing equipment, we have gear available to borrow at no extra cost. The next morning, the group will depart for the hike to the iconic Lakes of the Clouds Hut, situated just below the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. This segment of the hike offers a challenging but rewarding ascent, with stunning views that unfold as we climb higher. Our guides, experts in the region's natural history and ecology, will share insights into the unique alpine environment along the way. Once at the hut, we'll be greeted by unparalleled panoramic views that stretch across the White Mountains. We'll have the opportunity to explore around the hut or attempt a summit of Mount Washington, time and weather permitting. After a family style hearty dinner, the group will get a nights rest in the shared all-gender bunkrooms. After breakfast, the group will embark on a hike along the Southern Presidential ridge, a spectacular route above the trees that provides sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, we'll have the opportunity to summit some of the Southern Presidential Peaks, time and weather permitting. The trail eventually dips once more into the boreal forest as we near Mizpah Spring Hut, our destination for the final evening. Relax and enjoy the company of fellow hikers as we share stories of our day's adventure. Our final morning, the group will descend the trail back to Highland Center, where we will wrap up and depart. This hut-to-hut hike in the Southern Presidential Peaks is more than just a journey through nature-it's an opportunity to connect with the environment, with others, and with yourself. Women's+ Adventures: These experiences are led by women, trans and non-binary folks for members of these marginalized genders. These trips offer the spirit of adventure in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
