Overview

Join us for an unforgettable adventure as we traverse the majestic Franconia Ridge in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains! Our guided hike with AMC Guides offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the most iconic and breathtaking landscapes in the Northeast, all while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or new to mountain adventures, our guides will ensure a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere. Our journey will begin at AMC's Highland Center, a cozy and welcoming base where the group will meet for the first time. This initial meeting is a chance to connect as a group and the guides will review the plan for the weekend, expectations, safety protocol, gear, weather conditions, etc. and will be a chance to make sure everyone is feeling confident and prepared about the trip to come. For those needing equipment, we have gear available to borrow at no extra cost. The next morning, we will embark on our hike up the Falling Waters Trail, where we will ascend through lush forests alongside cascading waterfalls. Along the way, our knowledgeable guides will provide insights into the local flora, fauna, and geological features, enriching the experience with fascinating facts and stories about the area's natural history. As we gain elevation, the scenery transforms, offering sweeping vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Once on the ridgeline, we'll have panoramic views as we hike along the spine of the mountains, with exhilarating exposure and stunning alpine ecosystems at every turn. We will hike over notable mountains including Little Haystack Mountain, Mount Lincoln, and Mount Lafayette. After a day of exploration and adventure, we'll descend from the ridge and make our way to the historic Greenleaf Hut, nestled in the picturesque edge of the boreal forest below Mount Lafayette. Here, we'll be welcomed with warm hospitality and hearty family style meals. We'll have the opportunity to relax and recharge as we recount the day's adventure and get a night's rest in the all gender shared bunkrooms. After a restful night at Greenleaf Hut and a hearty breakfast, we'll bid farewell to our mountain refuge and begin our descent along the Old Bridle Path. This scenic trail winds its way through a diverse landscape of boreal forest and northern hardwoods, offering a contrast to the alpine environment we experienced on Franconia Ridge. Our journey concludes back at the Highland Center, where we'll gather one final time for a wrap-up session and farewells. Women's+ Adventures: These experiences are led by women, trans and non-binary folks for members of these marginalized genders. These trips offer the spirit of adventure in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
