Overview

Join AMC on a journey through vibrant autumn forests in the majestic White Mountains! Designed for those aged 55 and older, this guided adventure offers an unforgettable opportunity to immerse yourself in the splendor of fall foliage while fostering connections with nature and fellow adventurers. Our journey will begin at AMC's Highland Center, a cozy and welcoming base where the group will meet for the first time. This initial meeting is a chance to connect as a group and the guides will review the plan for the weekend, expectations, safety protocol, gear, weather conditions, etc. and will be a chance to make sure everyone is feeling confident and prepared about the trip to come. For those needing equipment, we have gear available to borrow at no extra cost from the LL Bean Gear Room on site. We'll embark on our hike to Zealand Falls Hut the next day, exploring the rich fall colors of Zealand Valley. We'll discover beaver ponds and stunning vistas while guides provide insight into local ecosystems and natural history, pointing out interesting flora and fauna along the way. Once at Zealand Falls Hut, the group will have a chance to relax and explore the cascading Zealand Falls, for which the hut is named. If timing and interest allow, the group can embark on an optional hike from the hut to a viewpoint. The evening will be spent recounting the day's adventure and enjoying a hearty family style dinner. After an evening naturalist program, we'll get a nights rest in the shared bunkrooms, falling asleep to the sounds of the nearby falls. In the morning, we'll depart for the trailhead after breakfast and make our way back to Highland Center for lunch and goodbyes. Join us for a spectacular autumn adventure in one of the most iconic New England fall foliage destinations, renowned for stunning and vibrant colors, finding adventure and connection and make memories that will last a lifetime!
