Overview

Urban Nature Therapy Mini Retreat A day to slow down, unplug, lean into the sensation of being alive and explore themes of belonging. Join local nature therapy guide, Tam Willey, in bringing our awareness to our interconnectedness and remembering that we ARE nature. The program will begin with a guided nature therapy experience in City Square Park in Charlestown followed by a community circle with tea and snacks at the Appalachian Mountain Club's Boston Office next to the park at 10 City Square, Charlestown, MA 02129 Information For Participants This program is geared towards adults (18+), centering Queer & Trans folx and open to all. Cost: $25.00 (includes hearty snacks and tea) Arriving & Getting to Charlestown We will meet at 10 City Square, Charlestown, MA 02129 at 10am Note: the building is actually marked 12 above the doorway. The nearest T stop is North Station and is about a 15 minute walk to 10 City Square. If driving, the nearest parking garages are located along Constitution Wharf, about a 6 minute walk. There on-street visitor parking available throughout Charlestown in marked areas. There is a bluebikes station one block from the office. Bathrooms: There are gender neutral bathrooms inside 10 City Square as well as an elevator to the second floor, where we will be for the circle and tea. Instructor Bio: Tam Willey (they/them) is a queer, gender expansive, nature therapy guide, trainer, mentor, and educator based in Boston, Massachusetts. Tam explores themes of belonging and attention through story and nature immersive experiences, facilitating ways of being together that support a culture of reciprocity and relational kinship. Tam's guiding practice is informed by their background as a local handy person, children's woodworking instructor, custodian, skateboarder, musician, artist, mentor, love for outdoor adventure, and 1st hand Queer life experience as community advocate serving and uplifting LGBTQ+ youth & adults through BAGLY (Boston's Alliance of LGBTQ Youth), The Theater Offensive's True Colors out Youth Theater, Black and Pink (Queer & Trans prison abolitionist organization), The Venture Out Project, and Wild Mountain Retreats. Tam guides ongoing community programming in partnership with The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, Speak For The Trees, The Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Boston Harbor Now, Peabody Essex Museum, local colleges and universities, and more. Tam holds CPR, First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid certifications.
