For those with some three season backpacking background who desire to learn the more advanced practices of extended, or week-long three-season backpacking. Instruction in higher mountain safety, hiking longer with a full overnight pack, equipment, proper camp site selection and set up, cooking, food planning for extended trips trail finding, map and compass, off-trail navigation, weather, trip planning, including resupply, route planning, nutrition, and emergency situations. Students will need a tent, good three-season sleeping bag (+20 degree F), warm clothing, rain gear and foam pad. Students in this section will spend the bulk of their time out doors, sleeping outside Friday and Saturday night. Be prepared to hike 3 to 5 miles with a full pack. The group will prepare Saturday breakfast and dinner and Sunday breakfast outdoors. Workshop will begin promptly at 7:30pm on Friday, ending Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm. Cost is $290/members, $310/non-members,and includes lodging, excellent meals, materials, and instruction. Must be 18 years or older to attend.
