Overview

Join us on the Old Bridle Path for a day of giving back to a very beautiful and popular trail that is almost 200 years old! The 1st mile of the Old Bridal Path in Franconia Notch State Park Is being restored and relocated as a sustainable trail. Funded by the World Trails Network - Americas, WTN is partnered with AMC for volunteer leaders for 10 work days for Trail volunteers this summer. AMC/WTN staff will provide instruction and guidance on proper tool use and trail building techniques. The summer of 2023 had over 120 volunteers in five days of incredible effort and fun clearing over 3000 ft for trail relocations and other work. This summer's work includes completing and opening the first 3000 ft of the OBP. Work will include excavating new trail surfaces, moving rocks to build staircases, drainage and trail surfacing, as well as revegetation. We hope for a Labor Day opening! All tools and personal protective equipment will be provided. Please bring your own trail lunch personal rain gear, water and rugged boots for footwear. We will contact you closer to the event with more details about the day as well as waivers to sign. Participants under 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parking is limited at the Old Bridle Path parking area, so a shuttle will be provided from the Cannon Aerial Tram parking lot. Reach out to [email protected] with any questions. Thank you for your interest!
