Overview

This one day training is specifically for AMC Adopt-a-Trail volunteers, either new volunteers or those renewing their training, who have adopted trails or are interested in adopting a trail in the alpine zone. This training is in addition to the one-day Basic Skills Training, which all new adopters should also plan to attend. The training will cover the basic maintenance responsibilities of Adopters in the alpine zone, alpine stewardship techniques and safe tool use, reporting, and other program logistics. This will include hands-on practice out on the trail. The in-person training will primarily be spent on the trail. Adopters will meet at Camp Dodge, and then will travel up the auto road to spend the day on Mount Washington. Come prepared to spend the day in the alpine zone learning about alpine trail features and maintenance techniques, such as cairn building and repair, scree wall construction, vegetation trimming, and trail corridor maintenance. Adopters will have the option to receive meals and lodging at Camp Dodge for the night before and/or after the program.
