Overview

Join the 20S & 30s crew to explore the backstage of the Appalachian Trail on the trail lands around Day Mtn in Dalton. This is the second day of work on this boundary line, so sign up for Saturday May 4 or Sunday May 5 or both. We'll be maintaining the critical boundary of the protected land corridor that surrounds the A.T. This off-trail work moves at a slow pace over varied terrain. We'll be clipping brush and painting blazes along the boundary line. Work is off-trail, occasionally in heavy brush and up and down hills. Expect stooping to clip brush as we work to maintain a clear line of sight along the boundary. The paint that demarcates the boundary will permanently mark clothing, so don't wear your favorite trail duds (not everyone needs to paint). Do wear sturdy shoes that can get wet and muddy. Long pants required, long sleeves, work gloves, and tick protection recommended. Dress for weather conditions and carry raingear. Bring lunch/snacks and water to drink. Expect to spend the full day in the woods. Rain will cancel.
