Overview

This is a through hike on probably the most challenging trail in the northeast. But it's all about the views! We'll traverse a portion of the eastern end of the Devil's Path passing over Twin Mountain (3640 ft.) dropping down into Pecoy Notch then ascending 1000 ft. to the Sugarloaf Mtn (3806 ft.) summit . Overall this is a very challenging hike. While not particularly long at a total of about 11 miles, day 2 has 3100 of the 3200 feet of ascent in about 6 miles. Water is available near both shelters and at various streams along the trail. Note that while the leaders have general knowledge of the area and trails, this is a scouting trip to gather information for future trips. This trip is rated strenuous and all participants must be seasoned backpackers with experience backpacking in mountainous terrain. There will be rock scrambling and increased exposure on portions of this trail. If you're uncomfortable in these situations, this trip probably isn't for you. If we haven't backpack together, upon registration please expect a discussion to understand your experience and gear readiness. This is a through hike and there will be a short car shuttle required. Please contact leaders to register for this trip.

Leader

I've been hiking and backpacking pretty much my entire life. I've planned and executed adventure trips for groups, including Scouts for years. My goal is to spend as much time off the pavement as possible. My challenge is to convince others to join me.

Leader in Training

I love backpacking in all seasons, canoe camping in the Adirondacks, and spend over 2 weeks a year sleeping outside. I've completed over 1,750 miles of the Appalachian Trail and am hoping to complete the New Hampshire section in 2024.
