Overview

Come join us for an early summer weekend adventure in Pinkham Notch: we will hike 3 of the "52-With-A-View" mountains, and enjoy 2 nights at Joe Dodge Lodge (including 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners). All of our hikes will be at a moderate pace, with short breaks and a longer pause for lunch. Our trip begins on Friday morning. We will meet around 9:00 a.m to hike Mt Hayes (6.6 mi, 2050' elevation). After our hike, we will drive to Joe Dodge Lodge and check in, with some free time before we assemble for dinner together in the dining hall. In the evening, we can enjoy reading, talking together, board games or star gazing (weather permitting). On Saturday, after breakfast, we will drive a few miles north to hike the Imp Face loop, about 6.0 miles and 2070' elevation. The Imp Face gets its impish name from the shape of the rock outcrop in the middle of the loop. The cliff on the side of North Carter Mountain offers breathtaking views of Pinkham Notch, Mt Washington and the Northern Presidentials. Returning to Joe Dodge Lodge after our hike, we will have some free time to explore the grounds, socialize or indulge in a nap before meeting in the dining hall for supper. On Sunday morning, after savoring another one of the Lodge's great breakfasts, we'll pack up and check out, then drive about 17 minutes to the trailhead for Pine Mt near Gorham. This 3.4 mi, 846' elevation hike offers an impressive experience for relatively little effort. At the top of the south cliffs is an example of "glacial striation," long, straight grooves cut into bedrock by rocks embedded in a glacier as it passed over the surface. Our trip ends back at the parking lot as we say goodbyes and look forward to our next adventure. Highlights - Explore scenic trails on 3 "52 WAV" hikes with two knowledgeable AMC volunteer leaders - Great breakfast and dinner meals served by wonderful AMC staff - Free time before and after supper to make new friends, stroll the grounds, enjoy individual or group interests After filling out the online Registration, you will be contacted by the leaders to complete the registration process and payment.

I have completed 46 of the 48 New Hampshire 4,000 footers at least once, and 67 of the New England 100 highest, spread across all seasons. I love hiking and look forward to sharing hiking experiences with you.
