Overview

NATIONAL TRAILS DAY CELEBRATION AT CORMAN AMC HARRIMAN OUTDOOR CENTER MAY 31-JUNE 2, 2024 Give a little love to your favorite trails on National Trails Day! Every year, the first Saturday in June is National Trails Day and on June 1, outdoor enthusiasts will celebrate the 30th National Trails Day. Enjoying the outdoors through well-marked and safe trails would not be possible without the many dedicated trail maintainers and supervisors volunteering their time to keep the trails clear and well marked. Come join us for just a day, or for the whole weekend, of trail maintenance events at the Corman AMC Harriman Outdoor Center sponsored by the NY-NoJ AMC Chapter. The event is open to everyone regardless of previous trail maintenance experience. On Saturday morning, the group will gather to review the basics of trail maintenance and then break into teams and hike to specific sections of a nearby trail to clear and maintain. We will finish in mid-afternoon with plenty of time left to enjoy the day back at the Harriman Outdoor Center including swimming or paddling on the lake or napping in the shade. No experience or tools required (although you may bring your own favorite hand tools). We will show you what to do and provide tools, gloves, and eye protection. Just bring your sturdy boots, sun hat, insect repellent, water, lunch/snacks, and good humor. AMC New York-New Jersey Chapter partners with the New York New Jersey Trail Conference (NYNJTC), which supervises trails projects in our region.
