This approx. 7.5 mi. moderate hike (pace average of 2 mph) continues our series of mostly moderate hikes covering all of the CT AT in sections averaging 5-8 miles each, begun last summer. With the first five miles along the Housatonic River, the trail runs flat through wooded areas with a few stream crossings, corridor of birches and fields. There is a gradual climb on Silver Hill, a steep short descent, crossing Rte. 4 and then wide Guinea Brook on stepping stones, and ascending a short, steep hill to junction of Mohawk Trail. After enjoying the summit of Breadloaf Mt., we will then descend 0.5 mi. on the Mohawk Trail to cars. Bring water and snacks. No dogs, please. This hike requires a car spot. Leader will send additional hike details and parking directions the day before the hike to registered hikers. NOTE: Due to the wash-out last summer of the Macedonia Brook Bridge and temporary re-routing of the AT between Rt. 341 and Skiff Mtn. Road, we are continuing slightly out of order with our hike series.
