Learn the basics of triage techniques for multiple scenarios. This fast-paced WFA course covers backcountry first aid, the golden 24 hours, splinting and bandaging, prioritizing needs, patient assessment, patient care, and how to improvise, modify, and adapt. Students who bring their beach bag or hiking day pack with items usually packed in it will learn how to use what they carry to deal with medical injuries/situations. Participants arrive Friday. Training requires 16 hours and will take place Saturday and Sunday (8 hours each day). All 16 hours required to receive WFA certification through the Emergency Care Safety Council (ECSI). WFA course is limited to 18 participants in order to get the maximum time for hands-on practice. Minimum class size: 7 participants. WFA fee: $80 member, $160 non-member. 100% REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAINING COST FOR AMC MEMBERS UPON COMPLETION. AMC LEADERS ADDITIONALLY RECEIVE 50% OFF LODGING IF THEY AGREE TO THREE FIC LEADS OVER TWO YEARS. All reimbursement requests with a copy of payment receipt should be emailed to [email protected]. Lodging fee: Adult (age 18+): AMC member $220, non-member $260 Teen (age 13-17): $170 member, $180 non-member (minimum age for WFA is 16 years old) Child (age 5-12): $120 member, $140 non-member Bunks not used for WFA guests will be available to the public starting May 19. Lodging includes Friday night stay and Saturday night stay (departure Sunday) plus some meals (happy hour Friday evening, self-serve breakfast Saturday and Sunday, and dinner Saturday; lunch is on your own). Lodging is a bunk in a shared space. Bring your top and bottom twin bed sheets, pillow case, and towel or rent these items at the cabin for $20. Guests have full use of the facility including guest fridge, cubby for dry food, and outdoor showers. Depart from Atlantique Sunday on the 7:30pm ferry, or extend your stay Sunday night into Monday for an additional fee: $70 AMC member, non-member $90. Teen $60/$70. Child $50/$70. This will get you the WFA course + lodging arriving Friday, departing Sunday. Registration begins Wednesday, May 1st at 10am. To enroll in the course only WITHOUT lodging, the daily fee for use of the facility is $25/day for an AMC member or $30/day for AMC non-member in addition to the WFA fee.
