Overview

Join AMC Boston Family Outings group for a hike to the summit of Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH. This impressive 3165-foot mountain boasts fantastic 360 degree views from its bald and rugged summit! This hike is roughly 4.6 miles round trip with 1,700 feet of elevation gain. The upper half of this route towards the summit is exposed with relatively steep and rough terrain, including some scrambling where you'll need to use your hands as well as your feet. You should be comfortable hiking on this type of terrain with this amount of elevation gain. We will take a moderate pace with breaks for water/snacks and lunch at the summit (weather permitting). Expect to be on the trail for 4 to 6 hours. This hike most suitable for families with children age 7 and above. There is a NH State Park fee of $15 per car plus $1 transaction fee for reserving a spot ahead of time (highly recommended). Rain or threat of thunderstorms and we will cancel or modify the hike.
