Overview

This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Spring Hiking Program (SHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. Potash Mountain (2680'), an open peak situated in the Sandwich Range backcountry, rewards a moderate but steady hike with lovely views of the region. We will hike at a moderate to relaxed pace, covering roughly 3.8 miles and gaining approximately 1400' of elevation. Expect to spend about 3-4 hours on trail. There is one stream crossing that can be substantial. We will start no earlier than 8:30am. You may be a good fit for a "Moderate" trip if you are participating in trips that gradually increase in difficulty level, distance, and elevation gain, including at least one SHP trip rated as "Easy" (or an equivalent outside of the program). To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.

Leader

Jon finished a round of the New England Hundred Highest just before heading off to the Southwest for four years. He's thrilled to be back in New England and working seriously on the winter 4000-footers. Other fun had in the meantime includes the Pikes Peak Marathon and a rim-to-rim-to-rim run of the Grand Canyon. Goal-oriented but interested in keeping things safe and fun.
