Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park is a 690-acre former estate with a mansion and formal gardens located on the Connetquot River. Connetquot River State Park Preserve is a 3473-acre nature preserve with a trout hatchery. All of the woods we will walk through have ticks. Wear pants and a hat, tuck pants legs into socks, use bug spray, avoid walking in tall grass or brushing up against leaves, check yourself for ticks during and after the walk. Boots are safer than sneakers and you may be happy to have boots on the sandy paths. There will be about one mile of beach walking, three miles of road walking, with the rest a mix of paved, gravel and dirt paths in the parks. Restrooms at 2.5, 9, 12 and 15 miles, Bring water, lunch, snacks. There will be water fountains along the way but no place to get food. We will take a short lunch break at Bayard; there is a small café which is quite slow, so do not plan to buy food there as it will take too long and we will not wait.
