Overview

Mt Prospect (2,650') stands to the northwest of Greylock with a deep ravine, (the Hopper), between the two. This mountain is just as beautiful as Greylock, but without the crowds. Starting at Haley Farm Trail parking area on Hopper Rd. in Williamstown MA, we will travel alongside Money Brook, keeping our eyes open for spring ephemerals. After a pleasant hike through the hemlock forest, we cross Money Brook and turn to make our way up Mt Prospect. We will gain 1300' in just over a mile. Once at the top we traverse the ridge with views to Williamstown. Connecting to a section of the AT, we descend gradually, returning to the Money Brook Trail, with a stop at Money Brook Falls. Distance: Just under 8 miles El gain: 1,800' Time expected: 5-6 hours, avg. pace 1.5, with time to enjoy the views and the flowers! We will hike as a group and return as a group. You do not need to be a member of AMC to participate, but you do need to register. Full details will be provided to participants after registration.
