Conway Lake, Center Conway, NH,
New Hampshire, White Mountains,
NH
Loons are an iconic symbol of our northern wilderness. Join a naturalist from the Loon Preservation Committee and a paddle trip leader from AMC NH on a tour of Conway Lake to visit the breeding loon population and soak in spectacular views of the Whitre Mountains. This will be a leisurely trek suitable for adults and families . Expect to paddle about 4-7 miles on a 4-5 hour trip. Canoes, recreational, touring or sea kayaks. SUP paddlers would need to be willing to sit or kneel for extended periods to keep a low profile when paddling near Loons Forecast rain (especially thunderstorms) or high winds could force postponement. For your safety, all participants will be required to wear a PFD at all times while on or near the water, Because this is an AMC trip, daily canoe and kayak rentals are available for $10/members, $20/non-members. Arrangements for rentals must be made in advance (https://sites.google.com/view/nhamcpaddlers/home). Boats will need to be picked up and returned to a location near Concord, NH (though other options may be possible). The Loon Preservation Committee (www.loon.org) works to protect loons throughout the state as part of its mission to restore and maintain a healthy population of loons in New Hampshire; to monitor the health and productivity of loon populations as sentinels of environmental quality; and to promote a greater understanding of loons and the natural world. AMC NH Paddlers is committed to offering volunteer-led trips with safety a primary focus.
