Dave has CANCELLED his following hike: Starting at Braemore Preserve and the Lone Pine Tree trail, this loop hike will pass through the Broomstick Ledges on the Mattabesset Trail and cross over to the Northwoods and Bluff Head. On a clear day you can see Long Island from the Bluff Head ridge. This is a vigorous hike of 7.5 miles with 1300 ft. of elevation gain. The hike is Not a beginner hike due to the length and some steep sections along Bluff Head ridge. We will start promptly at 9:30. Braemore parking is on Rte. 77 approximately 3 miles South from Rte. 17 Durham and Rte. 77. Heading North on Rte. 77 from Rte. 80 in Guilford approximately 5 miles to the parking on the right. You will pass Lake Quonnipaug heading North and about 2 miles past the lake. Please have sufficient hydration and proper footwear. RAIN CANCELS
