We will meet at 10:30 am at the Peabody Mill Environmental Center (PMEC) parking area at 66 Brook Road in Amherst NH. PMEC is a 7 ½ acre parcel where the Environmental Center is located and site of the Peabody Mill that closed in 1920. The center is adjacent to the 600-acre Joe English Reservation (JER). JECA is also adjacent to the Betty Arnold Forest, making for a large protected area that provides excellent hiking opportunities and an extensive trail system. Several brooks flow through this area, adding to its ecological diversity and wildlife variety. Joe English Reservation is also adjacent to a largely undeveloped property owned by the US Space Force, so we will keep a lookout for any unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Expect to hike about 6-miles over hilly-forest terrain as we loop through these conservation areas on several trails, which will lead us back to the parking area. Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks/lunch. Just in case the bugs are biting, bring insect repellent as well as sunscreen. This time of year, it is always a good idea to pack a head bug net. A garden keeling pad or a piece of an old yoga map or sleeping pad are useful items to sit on during lunch breaks.
