Join a small group of AMC Families at the self-service Cardigan High Cabin for one night. This charming cabin sleeps 12 and is a great kid-friendly backpacking experience. Saturday morning, we begin at Cardigan Lodge and hike 2 miles (1450' elevation gain) to Cardigan High Cabin. We drop overnight gear and continue to the summit (another steep half mile) to Mt. Cardigan (3,155') for great views. We return to the cabin for group games/activities and meal prep. The cabin has a composting toilet and wood stove for heat (if needed). Sunday morning, we hike back down to Cardigan Lodge and should arrive by noon. The cabin has 12 bunks/mattresses (no pillows)in the main room. There is a dry sink, two burner propane stove, and woodstove to keep the cabin toasty warm. There is no electricity or running water.
