Films have the power to evoke emotions, make us think about the world in new ways, and inspire us to go beyond what we thought was possible. Every year hundreds of nature and outdoor related documentaries are produced by amazing filmmakers around the world who set out to do just that. The AMC NY-NoJ Chapter would love to share some of their favorites with you! Every month the AMC NY-NoJ Chapter will bring you one of their favorite documentary flicks, from aquatic adventures to unbelievable high mountain expeditions, there will be something for everyone! Popcorn, beverages, good company, and a great film will all be provided at the best price we could think of… Free! The catch, space is very limited so you absolutely must register for this event in order to reserve a seat. We recommend arriving a little early, as a reservation does not guarantee a seat, at 6:30 when the film begins all seating will be released on a first-come basis. Our Film this month: The Other Shore THE OTHER SHORE follows world record holder and legendary swimmer Diana Nyad as she comes out of a thirty-year retirement to re-attempt an elusive dream: swimming 103 miles non-stop from Cuba to Florida without the use of a shark cage. Her past and present collide in her obsession with a feat that nobody has ever accomplished. At the edge of The Devil's Triangle, tropical storms, sharks, venomous jellyfish, and one of the strongest ocean currents in the world, all prove to be life-threatening realities. Timothy Wheeler's documentary brings Diana Nyad's extraordinary adventure to life as Diana sets out to prove that will and determination are all you need to make the unimaginable possible. Have a great documentary in mind you would love to share with the AMC community? Let us know, we would love to hear your suggestions for 2017 films.
