265 Upper Gap Mt. Rd. Troy, NH,
New Hampshire, Monadnock Region,
Here is your opportunity to help construct a major improvement to the Metacomet Monadnock Trail in NH and the trail up Gap Mtn. We're ready to construct the bridge where the NHMM Trail crosses the stream at the base of the south side of Gap Mt. in Troy. The bridge will be 26 feet long with a railing and will sit on cribs on either side of the stream. Mike Zlogar, the AMC Berkshire Section Trail Construction Guru, has designed the bridge and will pre-cut the bridge materials and supervise the construction of the cribs and the bridge. Friday, April 14th will be the first of three project days. We will use the day as a prep day to get the site ready for building the cribs and locate sources of rock and fill and stockpile material at the crib sites. If time, we'll work on the new trail route at the eastern end of the bridge. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own work gloves. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and attire appropriate for the weather. Bring your lunch, snacks, and water. Please sign-up by emailing Frank Bequaert at firstname.lastname@example.org. Come join us for a fun day getting work done on the trail!
