Overview

The Williams Land and Newtown Hill area, great for wildlife viewing, is former farmland now forested with interconnected trails. Newtown Hill is a Littleton town highpoint with water tower and eastward views over Fort Pond and the tops of Boston sky scrappers. This easy walk is 3 miles and is in partnership with Littleton Conservation Trust (LCT). We will meet at 9:45 am and expect to end around 1 pm. We are honored Don MacIver, President Littleton Conservation Trust, will lead this hike. The hike is also part of the Freedom's Way National Heritage Area (FWNHA) Hidden Treasures event (see link below for more information). We will view current stables, abandoned farm equipment and stone walls, rolling hay fields, wildlife habitat including duck and bat boxes, ant hills, and a birding viewing area with bench and platform. Additionally we will see several large glacial rocks scattered about. The 150 acre interconnected Williams Land and Newtown Hill share a wildlife pond - Doleful Pond. Prepare for the weather, wear sturdy shoes/boots, and bring water, snacks, hat, perhaps bug spray, and a spirit of adventure.
