Overview

Three-day, two night backpack on the northern end of the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway. We will cover a total of 18.5 miles, From Washington, NH Town Hall to the Mt. Sunapee summit. Moderate pace (1.5-2 mph), over hilly terrain, tenting at an established sites the first and second nights, climbing Mt. Sunapee on the last day. Ultimately finishing at the Mt. Sunapee Ski area parking lot. Difficulty of the trip is moderate. Preference given to April 8 backpacking workshop participants. Full backpacking gear, including tent or hammock, required. (Required gear list will be provided) Participants responsible for own meals. Group size limited to six.

I began backpacking in 1999 as a leader for my sons Scout troop, but gained my passion for backpacking in 2001 completing a 10 day, 85 mile trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Since then I began section hiking the Appalachian Trail, completing 1,500 miles as of 2016. I also began section hiking the 272 mile Long Trail, completing the LT in July 2014.
