A real New Jersey secret: the Wallkill River. Join Jill Arbuckle and Kurt Navratil. Peek bird migration timing makes this an astounding trip to see numerous varieties of shore birds AND forest birds. Leader's Choice/flow decides if we attain and go up and back on the river to see best spots. Current can move swiftly in spring. Tiny CL 1 rapid in one spot. Group decides if/how much bird hiking we do into the amazing forest trail right on the bank. A forest ranger plans to greet us at the refuge to give prime tips to observe the most as we paddle. We prefer tandem or solo canoes, but all crafts are welcome. Good trip for new paddlers, or those who wish to warm up for the season's opening.
