Basha Kill Wildlife Refuge, Wurstsboro, NY,
New York, Catskills,
Enjoy a tranquil wetlands paddle on the beautiful Basha Kill. We'll canoe and kayak 10 flatwater miles, which can be shortened by spotting cars along South Road. This is a great add-on trip for folks attending Saturday's Chapter Picnic (and Pig Roast), link below. Basha Kill is located in the Bashakill Wildlife Management Area in Wurtsboro, NY. This well-known birding area has the largest number of North American birds, over 220 species. Wood ducks, ospreys and eagles breed here. Remember to bring your binoculars for the best views of local and migratory birds. Novices and families with some experience, or at least a great attitude, are welcome. Bring your own boat and life jacket, or rent and cartop a club boat.
