Overview

We'll paddle to the following historic locations to learn more about them: Maid of the Meadow Lighthouse, Mills Mansion, Vanderbilt Mansion & Mt. St. Alphonsus. Launching at Esopus Meadows Point, we'll go with the ebb tide, disembarking at the Mills & Vanderbilt Mansions for outside tours. Then paddle back to our starting point. Total mileage is 11.5. Paddlers should have experience on the Hudson River or other "big water". Knowledge of wet exits & assisted rescues recommended. Kayaks must be a minimum of 13.5 ft. long & with dual bulkheads or flotation bags in bow & stern. Spray skirts & PFDs required. Bring lunch, snacks & water. Rain cancels. Group size limited. Joint with ADK. Contact leader for meeting time.
