New Hampshire, White Mountains,
Please join us for a there and back hike to the summit of Mt Moosilauke (4,800 ft) via the Beaver Brook trail. Mt Moosilauke is listed as the 10th highest on NH 48 four thousand footers. Beaver Brook trail is listed as an optional trail to complete the NH Terrifying 25. This is an intermediate to advanced hike. Participants should be comfortable with heights, scrambles and some very careful footing. Plan for a quick stop at the Beaver Brook Shelter (1.5 mile mark) for water filtration and use of privy, also for an amazing view of Mt Lafayette and for a break at the summit to enjoy the view and eat lunch. This may be a 9-10 hour wonderful day on the Welcome to Whites part of the Appalachian Trail. Hiking statistics: Easiest to break the hike down into two parts First 1.9 miles parallels the Beaver Brook cascades. 1.5 miles of this is "Steep and Rough" terrain with wooden steps bolted to the rock face and steel rebar hand grabs cemented into the stone. Roughly starting in the parking lot at 1,870 feet and stopping at 3,750 feet for the shelter. Plan on open communication and assisting the person in front/behind you during this part of the ascent. Ultimate team work is a necessity. The remaining 0.4 miles after the shelter plan for 250 feet of elevation. The second 1.9 miles is a leisurely ascent of 800 feet to reach the summit.
