Overview

Distance: 9 miles Elevation change: 2700 feet Come join us and Carl's dog "Dutch" for a hike up Mount Cabot, New Hampshire's northern most 4000 footer. While not as rugged as some 4000 footers, this is still long hike with a lot of elevation change. Please be in good condition as we will be hiking at a moderate pace. The intent is to enjoy a pleasant day in the woods. Pace will be at that of the slowest hiker. Participants are expected to stay together, and work with each other if a need arises. Intent is to hike in & out along the Bunnell Notch Trail, but we might extend the hike to a loop across The Bulge and The Horn, which are on the New England 100 highest list. This would extend the hike to by 2.2 miles and add 600 feet of elevation. This decision will be made close to the date of the hike. Given the northern location of this trailhead, carpooling and staying over in the area the night before are highly encouraged.

Leader

Carl is an avid hiker who enjoys, mostly, day hikes in the Whites. He has completed the New England 100 Highest Peaks, two circuits of the New Hampshire 4,000 Footers and over 40 of the New Hampshire 4,000 Footers in Winter. Please read the trip description carefully, if it says 'Peak Bagger' or 'experienced hiker', the trip is goal oriented and will not be suitable for beginners. Otherwise, we'll be out for enjoyment and the chance to take in whatever life on the trail has to offer.
