This Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course will help you prepare for the unexpected. This fast-paced, hands-on training is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working in remote locations. It will introduce you to caring for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning. At the end of the course, you'll have the knowledge, skills and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. This class will be held at the Thoreau Outing Club, 235 Forest Ridge Rd, Concord MA (http://www.thoreau.com/). Course fee of $130 will be reimbursed if you lead or assist for Boston Family Outings twice in a 12 month period. Thoreau Club is also putting together a kids camp as a great option for kids while parents are training. The camp will include a short hike, lunch over the campfire, treehouse, arts & crafts, games, etc. The cost of the camp will be signficantly discounted to parents taking WFA. We expect WFA to fill with a wait list. Registration is confirmed in the order in which we receive checks. To get a link to the registration form and information as to where to send your check contact David Powell, 781-858-5546, email@example.com.

Past participants say...
"Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? Many backcountry emergencies are preventable, and even when bad things happen, the wrong care can make things worse. Learn a few basic skills to make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one - and maybe even save a life."
