Overview

A three night backpack to climb some of the 4,000' peaks in the Seward Range of the Adirondacks. These peaks are all bushwhacks. The trip will be to pack or sled in our gear to a base camp on Friday and then have Saturday and Sunday to climb peaks. Return on Monday. We will meet in the area the night before the trip due to the early start time on Friday. This trip requires previous winter camping experience. For gear, boots with removable liners and snowshoes are required. Crampons and ice axes are optional. Leaders have spare sleds we can loan for those interested in using them. On the registration form under other comments please include what kind of boots, sleeping bag and tent you have. Leaders don't recommend buying a lot of gear until you have had a chance to see what others like about their gear. In many cases gear can be rented or borrowed. Contact leaders for help. Leader

I have been leading backpacking trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Adirondack Mountain Club since 1975. I enjoy taking the time to look at the scenery and have a relatively slow pace. I am patient with beginners and enjoy helping them learn new skills.
