Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire,
New Hampshire, White Mountains,
Join us on a tour of the Gulf of Slides Ski Trail, which entails an ascent gaining approximately 2000 feet of elevation. Conditions permitting, we plan on exploring beyond the end of the ski trail to view the south snowfields. The objectives of this trip are limited to the ski trail and a bit of sight seeing beyond it. We do not plan on skiing either the slides or the snowfields. The AMC New Hampshire chapter ski committee will be leading other trips later in the season with these exciting slopes as their objective. This trip is appropriate for skiers or boarders with very good physical fitness and advanced turning abilities. Because the ski trail return is not a straight shot down but has uphill sections, snow boarders may not enjoy this trip. Skiers and split boarders will require climbing skins; conventional boarders will need snow shoes. It is not appropriate to be post holing up this ski trail.
