Do you want to visit a foreign country without spending a lot of hours flying? Do you want to experience another culture without having to deal with the challenge of a foreign language? Do you like to hike in wide open area with magnificent views? Do you enjoy meeting like-minded travelers? Do you enjoy the outdoors as well as history? If you answered yes to ANY of these questions you should seriously consider joining us on this adventure to Wales!! Snowdonia is a region in northwest Wales concentrated around the mountains and glacial landforms of massive Snowdonia National Park. The park's historic Snowdon Mountain Railway climbs to the summit of Wales's highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, offering views across the sea to Ireland. The park is also home to an extensive network of trails, over 100 lakes and craggy peaks. Ever since Sir Edmund Hilary trained in Snowdonia for his ultimate Everest climb the area has become known as a paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts. As part of the larger region of North Wales, Snowdonia is close to a string of famous medieval castles including Conwy, perched above an estuary, and Caernarfon, set along the River Seiont. Just beyond Snowdonia's dramatic mountains lie the sandy beaches of the Ll?n Peninsula and Welsh-speaking coastal towns. We'll fly into Manchester airport just north of Wales and spend our first night at a hotel near the airport. The next morning we will be met at our hotel by a charter bus and whisked away to start our Welsh adventure! En route we will have a stop in Chester, a delightful UNESCO World Heritage site where a private tour guide will show us around the historical area. Then it's off to Wales and our base for the next six nights, the village of Betws-y-Coed. This village is ideally suited for our exploration of the northern half of Snowdonia National park as it is on all the major local bus and rail routes and has a wide range of services. We'll utilize the Snowdonia Sherpa bus service to access most of our trail heads during the week. This adventure will incorporate sightseeing, hiking, culture and relaxation with fellow hikers; the ultimate Wales experience!
