New Hampshire, White Mountains,
Mount Washington Valley is the heart of Nordic skiing in New Hampshire. Spend a weekend with us exploring this region on skis. Our base camp will be a hostel with a fully equipped kitchen. Participants will be responsible for their own meals. Whether you eat in or out of the hostel, you will undoubtedly find a friend in our group to accompany you. Our strategy is to chase the good snow. If it is to be found on backcountry trails--our preference--that's where we'll want to be skiing. Possibilities include the Avalanche Brook and Connie's Way ski trails in Pinkham Notch and the network of trails accessible via the Kancamagus Highway east and west of Bear Notch Road. If the backcountry snow isn't so good, we'll consider skiing at cross-country touring centers such as the fabulous Jackson XC network or perhaps even the Bretton Woods Nordic center. Our ski days will be planned based on the abilities and equipment of the participants. Skiers interested in tips to improve their Nordic skiing should know that the leader of this trip is Ted Stever, the director of the PSIA-accredited Cardigan Mountain Ski School, who has been teaching Nordic and Alpine skiing for many years. He's always happy to help. Cost for this weekend is $100 per person, which covers the cost of lodging. It does not include costs for meals or fees for skiing at cross-country resorts. A deposit of $50 is required upon registration, which is fully refundable if you cancel by January 16. The remaining $50 is due before January 16. Cancellations after January 16 will not receive a refund unless a new participant signs up to replace the canceling participant.
