Hebron Ave and Birch Mountain Road, Glastonbury, ct,

An 8 mile out and back hike along the Shenipsit Trail starting from Birch Mountain Road in Glastonbury. There are frequent up and downs with a couple of short steep climbs. Mostly along the wooded Blue blazed trail. We'll detour onto the Yellow trail for a great view looking west from Case Mountain. Expect a 2.0 mph pace with short but frequent breaks to hydrate. Participants should be in good condition, have proper cool to cold weather hiking footwear, clothing, and equipment. Bring at least 2.0 liters of water, lunch and high energy snacks. It is also recommended that a warm drink is carried in an insulated bottle. The hike will take 4 to 5 hours dependent on the skill level of the group. Meet at trailhead at 9:15 AM for a prompt 9:30 AM start. The hike is not pet friendly. Inclement weather will cancel the hike. Leave No Trace guidelines apply. Contact Leader with questions.
DIRECTIONS: From Rte. 94 (Hebron Ave) in Glastonbury turn onto Birch Mountain Road. There is a small dirt parking lot on the right about 200 yards after turn onto Birch Mountain Rd. Parking area is just before the big cell phone towers. Approx. Lat/Long: 41.70987059806967 / -72.47374322265387 .
