New Hampshire, White Mountains,
Mt Carrigan in February via Signal Ridge Trail. A great, long hike in winter to the top of Carrigan(4700') and the great views from the firetower at the peak. This hike is 14 miles which includes a 2 mile road walk (one way) from Hwy 302. Elevation gain is +3484 ft. We plan to hike this at 2+ mph pace and is best for experienced winter hikers who know their gear and how to layer and thermo-regulate to minimize stops. Standard winter hiking gear (crampons, snowshoes, microspikes, face mask, goggles) is expected and final decisions will be made at the parking lot. Headlamps and extra batteries are a must.
