*NOTE: This hike is being offered in conjunction with the New Year's Eve Lonesome Lake Hut event. It is not required that you participate in this event to participate in the hike, but be aware that the hike will be leaving from Lonesome Lake Hut, and you will need to plan to add the extra hike time and mileage to the hut if you are not staying there. We will hike North and South Kinsman starting from Lonesome Lake Hut, via the Fishin' Jimmy and Kinsman Ridge trails. This is an out and back trip, and is mostly in the woods until approaching South Kinsman, with a breathtaking view of Franconia Ridge near North Kinsman, South Kinsman is completely exposed affording sweeping views on a clear day. This trip is 7.2 miles round trip from the hut (9.7 miles from Lafayette campground), with ~2,550 ft elevation gain (~3,550 ft from Lafayette campground). Recent winter hiking experience with similar mileage and elevation gain, and appropriate winter hiking gear required for this event. This hike is listed as "Young Members - 20's & 30's) but is open to ALL. Limit 8 participants and 2 leaders.

Sarah Keats is currently one of the Co-Chairs of the Maine Chapter Young Members. Sarah has been hiking mountains over 4,000 feet since she was 12 years old, and has completed the Adirondack 46, New England Hundred Highest, Winter NH 48, and Northeast 111/115. She has been an August Camp hike leader in both Oregon and Washington for the past two years. For Adventure Travel, Sarah has co-led a cross-country skiing trip to Austria and a canoe trip to the Buffalo River in Arkansas.

Marielle is a past co-Chair for the Young Members of the Maine Chapter, and is now serving as YM Chair for the Mohawk-Hudson Chapter. She joined AMC in 2013, and has led hiking and cross country skiing trips for the last ~2 yrs. She is an active 4-season hiker, completed her NH 48 in August 2016, and has less than 10 peaks to go of the New England Hundred Highest. She loves to share her passion for hiking and the outdoors with others, and hopes to see you on her next trip!
