Overview

This is a +6 mile double loop hike w/a connector trail on Berkshire Natural Resources Council property. The terrain is very similar to CT with two moderate ascents & descents. A portion of the second loop descends to and follows the Clam River. If this becomes a snowshoeing event, the mileage will be shortened to 5 miles. Rain or hazardous road conditions cancels. Bring: water, trail snacks, lunch, micro spikes, snowshoes, optional poles. Meet: Sandisfield Town Hall Annex at 9:30 for a 9:45 start. To carpool from Winsted, contact leader. Directions: #66 Sandisfield Rd (Rte 57), MA. From Winsted: Junction of Rte 44 & Rte 8 North at Green, travel 12.5 miles north on Rte 8 N. At junction of Rte 8 & Rte 57, turn left, over bridge & then straight onto Rte 57 West. Travel 0.5 mile. At stop sign, turn left to stay on Rte 57 W. Drive 1.5 miles farther. The town hall sits back from the road on the right. It is difficult to see. There is signage that Rte 57 is closed to trucks but it is open to cars. If there is a bypass at any point, follow signs for 57 W. Register with L.
